Porn: The Epidemic That Keeps Growing
Have you ever been addicted to porn?
This isn't a deep question. You'll know the answer right away. For those of you who have never been addicted to porn, let me give you a quick glimpse into the mind of a porn addict.
You've just put in a solid day's work, time to head home. You stop at a red light, perfect time to check Instagram. As you start scrolling you see one of your friends half-naked. She puts a caption about "loving her body". She's been your friend for 7 years but you've never seen her in a thong before.
Your mind suddenly becomes chaos and you have no willpower. One thought leads to another and suddenly you are looking at porn while you are driving.
You rush to get home. It doesn't matter who is there and it doesn't matter what you have to do next.
You go to the bathroom, lock the door and put your pants around your ankles. You shamelessly type into the search bar things you would never show another person, especially the ones you love.
After you are done you sit there in shame. You feel empty inside. You think to yourself, how did this happen?
The Cancer That Keeps Growing
If you have no idea there is a porn epidemic happening right now, let me put you in a state of shock.
Pornhub is one of the biggest porn sites in the world. Every year they release their numbers for their website.
Pornhub keeps on growing and it doesn’t show signs of letting up. In 2019 there were over 42 Billion visits to Pornhub, which means there was an average of 115 million visits per day. One-Hundred-Fifteen Million – that’s the equivalent of the populations of Canada, Australia, Poland and the Netherlands all visiting in one day!
This year must have been an adventurous one because there were over 39 billion searches performed, which is 8.7 billion more searches than last year. Celebrities, trending terms, and characters – if you can think it, it’s probably been searched for.
There is an estimated 7.8 billion people on the planet. One site like Pornhub has 42 billion visits. This isn’t including the thousands of other porn websites. Imagine if you combined them all, it could be over 1 trillion searches every year. A number inconeivable.
Delayed Lessons
Like most things in the new age we never stopped and thought about what it meant to have instantaneous porn at our fingertips.
How could we, the lesson can't be learned until the grade is given.
The Shame a Man Feels
Porn is the silent addiction -Ed Latimore
Have you ever heard a recovering alcoholic talk about how many drinks they use to have? Of course you have!
People try and relate addictions to each other. I’m sure there is some merit in that. But porn addiction is different. It’s different because it can hide in plain sight.
One thing you will never hear out of a porn addict, the words they type into the search bar.
The shame is that strong.
The End
If you are dealing with a porn addiction, just admit it. Doing so will release you from your mental prison.
